Biography

Hatanaka Minoru, born in 1968, is the chief curator at the NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], where he has worked since 1996, even before its official opening. 

Through his career, he has curated numerous exhibitions at ICC, including notable group exhibitions such as »Sound Art—Sound as Media« (2000), »Sounding Spaces—9 Sound Installations« (2003), »Silent Dialogue« (2007), »Vibrations of Entities« (2010), and »SAKAMOTO Ryuichi with TAKATANI Shiro | Installation Music 2 IS YOUR TIME« (2017). He has also organized solo exhibitions for featuring artists like Laurie Anderson and Hachiya Kazuhiko. In recent years, Hatanaka has continued such as »Viewpoints of Reality in the Multi-layered World« (2022), »Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto: Music/Art/Media« (2023), and »ICC Annual 2024: Faraway So Close« (2024). Beyond his curatorial works, he has also contributed to art and music criticism.
