Chris Spatschek
Biography
Chris Spatchek is a communication designer and science communicator from Karlsruhe. As a designer, maker, and mediator, he operates at the intersection of art, science, and society. Through interactive projects and workshops, he creates spaces for interdisciplinary exchange, offering new perspectives on scientific and societal questions.
In addition to his teaching roles at the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Spatchek is involved in juries such as the KlarText! Infographic Prize by the Klaus Tschira Foundation. He is also an active member of organizations like DieAnstoß e.V. and FabLab Karlsruhe e.V., where he merges design and technology through hands-on projects.
With the SyncThatWave micro-festival, held at DieAnstoß e.V. and ColaTaxiOkay e.V., he and Paul Erhardt created an experimental space for the local synthesizer scene in 2024. Here, perspectives from hardware and software development, performance, and jam sessions converged. This experience led to a collaboration with ZKM | Hertzlab, resulting in the workshop format Resonant Networks: Ideate, Code, Build, Perform as part of the Synthie-Lovers Festival. The workshop explores practically how artificial intelligence can be harnessed to drive the hardware development of synthesizers.
