Theodor W. Adorno understood art as countering empirical reality.
A high amount of natural-science empirical knowledge demonstrably flowed into the paintings by Hermann J. Roth (em. Ordinarius for Pharmaceutical-Medicinal Chemistry at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen). Is that a contradiction? The lecture by Lothar Rumold (wood sculptor, philologist, and philosopher) will be complemented with demonstrations by Hermann J. Roth on the “chemical content” of his diamond grid paintings.
